To go from being the consumer of travel services to owning a retail travel agency.
With a background in corporate insurance James Beagrie saw an opportunity to buy a small, profitable retail outlet from travel giants First Choice, then use this as a spring board to start building a much larger, full service travel business. Having worked with Warrener Stewart on his exit from Aon he again turned to them to help with this purchase.
Upon securing the deal, Warrener Stewart helped James develop a framework to run the business; one which would allow for expansion and the addition of subsequent services and companies to an ever expanding portfolio.
“Warrener Stewart brought simplicity and structure where there was none.”
With no finance department to rely upon James used Warrener Stewart as a sounding board; the fact that they appreciated the pressures of a travel business, along with the cyclical highs and lows that affect travel retailers meant they could help James with his business planning. With Warrener Stewart's help, Meon Valley Travel implemented internal accountancy structures to provide them a comprehensive picture of business on a single sheet of paper.
“Warrener Stewart is there when you need them 24 hours a day”
James believes his rapid growth would not have been feasible were it not for Warrener Stewart. The addition of one particular company to the fold tested Warrener Stewart to the limit; the team lead by Colin Edney worked around the clock to ensure that James won a contract race to buy a failing company from its administrators and then helped James turn it into a well-managed and profitable business unit.
Meon Valley Travel now employs 100 staff around the UK and provides a range of travel solutions to individuals and well-known household names.
“Warrener Stewart has added a depth of knowledge to my business; they have helped me make informed judgments at every twist and turn and offer incredible value.”
