Donating to help end homelessness in London

11 January 2022 • Sponsorship, Warrener Stewart, Warrener Stewart London

The team at Warrener Stewart is always keen to support charities. For a number of years they have made a Christmas donation to Glass Door, a London-based charity that coordinates the UK’s largest network of open-access services for people affected by homelessness.

Nick Morgan, a Director at Warrener Stewart, said; "Glass Door needs our support to allow them to offer homeless people a way off the streets and into safer, more stable futures. Their aim is to create a future where no one has to sleep on the streets of London and we are glad to play a small part in helping achieve this noble and ambitious goal."

Demand for Glass Door's services remains high due to the continued aftershocks of the pandemic, rising costs of living and end of government support schemes. Many people are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness for the first time. They can come to Glass Door for shelter and support at their time of need. Our donations help provide guests with their own-room accommodation with three meals a day this winter. This can provide vital shelter from the cold and sustained high rates of Covid-19.

Achieving positive results

Glass Door doesn’t just provide temporary support, they offer a route out of homelessness. Their caseworkers work all year to empower their guests to turn their lives around. They said; “Once guests know where to find their next meal and place to sleep, they can focus on finding routes out of homelessness with their caseworkers. Last year (between 1 June 2020 and 31 May 2021) we filled more than 15,000 bed spaces in our own-room accommodation service which was a lifeline for nearly 200 guests. In 2021 our caseworkers provided advice, emotional support and assistance to 1,370 guests and helped 317 of them to find more sustainable accommodation. This winter we strengthened our team of caseworkers to respond to the rising demand."
