UK Tax Technician at Warrener Stewart has academic paper published
We were delighted to learn that one of our UK Tax Technicians, Isaac Dilley, has recently had an academic paper published in Combinatorial Theory, a prestigious mathematics journal. This is a significant achievement and is proof of Isaac’s skills in problem solving, attention to detail, and team work.
The paper, produced in collaboration with Isaac’s supervisor Thomas D. H. Coleman as part of his Laidlaw Scholarship through the University of St Andrews, was published in September this year. Titled “Every Group-Embeddable Monoid Arises as the Bimorphism Monoid of Some Graph”, the article provides a generalisation of the ‘Frucht’s Theorem’ which provides a bridge between two areas of mathematics - group theory and graph theory. It contributes to the overall understanding of certain group-like structures by identifying a new framework through which they could be studied.
“I am quite proud of myself for getting this over the line,” comments Isaac. “Going through the rigours of preparing an idea for publication, and the peer review process, was an eye-opening experience.
“If I were to restrict myself to one thing I learned, I would say that more than the knowledge I gained about my area of study, it was that...
“I wanted a career in an industry where I get to spend my days solving new and interesting problems. So far, tax has been the perfect environment for me in that respect.”
